Practice, Practice, Practice

So a short while ago I began pursuing my desire to learn how to bind and create my own books, partly due to boredom and mostly born from an obsession that I have with paper and books.  I am of that special group of people that will always prefer a book in hand as opposed to a book on screen.  I started small and have gradually moved on to more complicated projects (although the most recent and complicated book I just finished is child's play compared to some of the ideas I have seen).  Here's some of the projects I've done.

My Work Desk
This one is cool.  It's like an accordion wallet.
Card Holder
First Book w/ Sewn Binding
Second Book w/ Sewn Binding

A while back I made some Cd cases as a gift. I thought I'd add them on the end.

Stop it. Just stop it.  That's right Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry; I'm talking to you guys.

Sincerely,
Good Taste

Where the sidewalk ends...for now.

It's nice to have finally found my place after so much time looking.  Strangely enough, my place happens to be in Logan, Utah as a journalism major at USU.  I never in my life would have guessed this is where my life would have taken me, but it has and I welcome it.  Logan...ha.

How do they do it?

How is it that some people manage to blog every day, or even every other day.  I run out of things to say when I try to blog everyday.  I don't feel like I'm an uninteresting person.  But interesting people should have interesting things to say, right?

All I can think to write are little rhymes. I like rhyming.

My day today was like the day before/and so life will stay the same forevermore/like a worker bee just going about his way/Working and working to make honey every...single...day.

And so it is and so it will be.

Candy bowls.

Today I bought jellybeans. Then I put those jellybeans in a bowl thinking "This will be my new thing. I will always have jellybeans in a bowl at my house to share."  That bowl now sits empty.  How do people with candy dishes do it? My bowl of candy lasted roughly 10 minutes.

Maybe I need to find a less appetizing candy. But that would defeat the entire purpose of the candy bowl.  Alas, I guess I was never meant to be "that cool guy with the candy".

Too Much Amazing Music

We live in a day where there is so much good music.  We are oh so fortunate to have a seemingly never-ending supply  of new tunes, but at the same time it drives me crazy.  I love music so much that I'm always looking for any song or band I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing yet, and there is a constant buzzing in the back of my brain telling me that there is some other life-changing song out there that I have yet to hear.

I'm an addict and no amount of good music with ever satisfy my desire, nay, my NEED for inspiring music.

The Little Things

On the first night of marriage bedsides are claimed.  This simple act determines on which side of the bed you will sleep for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.

It's the little things.

Rocky on Old Main Hill

I walked west  away from campus on my way to where I had parked my car after class this morning when I saw Shirtless Rocky running up the endless staircase at Old Main Hill.  He reached the top of the staircase and without stopping for air, in one fluid motion,  he slapped the flagpole that was there, spun around, threw his arms into the air, and triumphantly screamed into the heavens.  "YYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" was his cry of victory over the hill he had just conquered.  He continued this for about 30 seconds straight until he could breath no more.

Then Shirtless Rocky just stood there stoically, an inspiration to all who witnessed. I will never be the same.

Some Facts I've Learned from Backyard Camping

1. Bugs are drawn to tents.
2. The ground is not as comfortable as my bed (and I sleep in a chair).
3. Sasquatch is not anything like he is portrayed in "Harry and the Hendersons"
4. Cold weather makes for less than satisfying camping trips.
5. I don't like getting up to pee at night because the zippers on tent doors are ridiculously loud and will wake up everyone in a five mile radius.

Only in JCOM

As part of an assignment for my JCOM class, we get to make some form of ID page for our teacher who may or may not even read this.  I chose to use my already existing, yet very neglected blog.  And so yet again I find myself starting from the the beginning with my blog.

I was born in a log cabin in the mountains where I was raised by Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.  Being in the middle of the forrest-covered mountains, I found that I had a lot of extra time on my hands: too much time some might say.

Every word of that poorly written beginning of my life story is a lie...obviously.  I figured it would be far more interesting than my real life story. But, alas, here I am, a normal guy who wasn't raised by Bill Murray or Dan Aykroyd.  I want to be a writer, but I don't read hardly enough and I have a weak grasp of English grammar.  I really like Mountain Dew, and I will eat just about anything (edible that is).  My family is pretty cool, and Will Smith has been quoted several times after saying that all too famous phrase, "If I could be anybody, living or dead, I would be Kade Burnham."

Now for the formal info I need for class.  I'm a sophomore majoring in journalism (specific area is still TBA). Contact me at kadeburnham@gmail.com or 801-369-6902.

I like to read, write, and listen to music.  I have a cardigan fetish: I wear one almost every single day of the year.  Movies are fun. I've lived in 6 different places: Utah, Texas, Virginia, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and California. I like having fun, and I love love. I'm watching My Neighbor Totoro right now.

And now I'm done.  If I tell all, then all logic and reason concludes that I would have nothing left to say.
